DECO launches new sustainable consumption campaign with carbon brigades

Save power, DECO’s (Portuguese Association for Consumer Protection) new sustainable consumption campaign, was launched at the Museum of Electricity in Lisbon on 7 May 2008.
The campaign deploys carbon brigades to encourage consumers to protect the environment through tips on how to save energy at home and at work.

‘Change is easy and costs nothing!’ is the motto of the carbon brigades – teams of young people trained on environmental issues with the clear campaign mission to undertake 650 actions of education and awareness raising throughout the country.
The youth brigades will distribute teaching materials, such as:

  • CDs with interactive games and cards to school children
  • posters with practical advice
  • guides with energy saving tips.

DECO aims to demonstrate that consumers can save electricity and reduce their emission of greenhouse gases, especially carbon dioxide, without giving up the good life.
